LinkedIn Restructures Operations Amid Layoffs
LinkedIn, a professional networking platform, is implementing operational changes alongside recent employee layoffs, according to an internal memo from Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan. These adjustments, announced on May 13, 2026, aim to streamline product development and leverage artificial intelligence (AI) more effectively.
The restructuring involves three primary shifts. Firstly, LinkedIn is reorganizing its product teams to create more agile units with fewer management layers, mirroring similar initiatives at its parent company, Microsoft. Secondly, the company is centralizing user experience design resources, enabling product teams to manage routine tasks while expert researchers focus on complex projects. This aims to accelerate development cycles.
Finally, LinkedIn is altering its approach to producing learning content. The platform will transition from in-house original content creation to a model where instructors can directly produce and monetize their educational offerings.
This change is intended to provide more timely content and allow the internal team to concentrate on high-impact, differentiated learning experiences. A LinkedIn spokesperson confirmed these organizational changes are part of regular business planning to position the company for future success.
