Kasim Khan urged supporters to avoid gathering near Adiala Jail during PTI's planned long march to Islamabad on September 27, saying it could put his father's life at risk.
Police said they have detained more than 150 PTI leaders and workers in Rawalpindi division under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance and have carried out door-to-door checks in over 2,000 homes and offices in the past 20 days.
Kasim Khan posted on X that he asked followers not to attempt to march or protest near the prison. "Please do not give them any reasons for 'accidents' to happen to my father during the protest," he wrote.
Adiala warnings and security measures
The Punjab government announced a 13-day ban on public gatherings from September 23 to October 5, prohibiting groups of five or more in public places, and requested security assistance from the Rangers for districts including Rawalpindi and Attock. Officials said they have planned to deploy more than 10,600 police personnel in Rawalpindi for the march.
The government also asked the federal interior ministry to downgrade mobile and internet services at selected locations from September 27 to maintain order, officials said.
A court development has added to tensions: the Lahore High Court rejected a petition seeking immediate suspension of detention orders for two of Imran Khan's sisters after police detained three of his siblings under the same maintenance order.
The long march is scheduled for September 27; authorities have said they will enforce checkpoints and may restrict communications in targeted areas that day.
