US Deploys Warships to Hormuz Amid Iranian Threats
US naval mission in Strait of Hormuz sparks Iranian warnings. Diplomatic efforts continue amid rising regional tensions.

The United States has announced "Project Freedom," a naval mission to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz, effective Monday. This initiative follows a de facto Iranian blockade of the strait, a critical chokepoint for global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
Iran's military has warned that any foreign armed force attempting to enter the Strait of Hormuz will be attacked.
Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that US allies in the region recognize the US-Israeli actions against Iran as unilateral and contrary to international law. This diplomatic stance follows Iran's receipt of a US response to its peace proposal, which the US deemed unacceptable.
Despite the US announcement, international benchmark Brent crude prices remained stable.
NATO Secretary-General indicated that European nations are implementing agreements on military base usage, following US criticism regarding support for the conflict. Australia and Japan are increasing cooperation on energy and critical minerals due to trade disruptions.
Separately, the US evacuated 22 crew members from an Iranian vessel to Pakistan as a confidence-building measure.
