Protests Disrupt Israeli Property Fair in London

Protesters gathered in London on June 17 to demonstrate against a real estate event marketing properties located in Israeli settlements within the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The event, held at the Edgware United Synagogue, faced significant backlash from rights groups and over 100 British legislators who argued the sale of land in these territories violates international law.

The fair, which functioned as a roadshow for Israeli real estate firms, featured marketing materials for developments in areas including Givat Zeev and Maale Adumim. Attendees reported that agents highlighted potential price discounts linked to the ongoing conflict in Gaza as a primary incentive for prospective buyers.

While the interior of the venue remained under heavy security, including plainclothes personnel with body cameras, the exterior saw hundreds of demonstrators calling for a government ban on the proceedings.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed 15 arrests related to public order offenses during the demonstrations. London Mayor Sadiq Khan stated that authorities are assessing allegations of potential criminality regarding the sale of property in occupied territories. The event has prompted formal calls for a police investigation into whether the marketing of these settlements constitutes an unlawful activity under UK jurisdiction.
