FCC Ban on HoverAir Versa Hits US Drone Sales

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has effectively blocked the distribution of the HoverAir Versa in the United States. The device, a modular camera system capable of functioning as a drone, has been removed from the agency’s authorization database, rendering its import and sale legally non-compliant.

Regulatory scrutiny intensified after the manufacturer attempted to classify the device as a camera rather than a drone to circumvent existing trade restrictions. The FCC maintains that cameras integrated into drone systems constitute critical drone components, subjecting them to the same regulatory prohibitions as the aircraft themselves.

As a result, the manufacturer has ceased accepting US orders for the flight-capable components of the device. Current backers face potential order cancellations and refund requirements, as the underlying authorization for the camera unit itself remains in jeopardy under current federal guidelines.
