Google Cloud initiated layoffs across its cybersecurity teams over the past two weeks, impacting units including the Threat Intelligence Group and Mandiant, a cybersecurity firm acquired by Google in 2022. These personnel reductions are part of a broader trend within the technology sector, where companies are reallocating resources towards artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.

However, the cuts extend beyond a single unit, indicating a strategic realignment within Google Cloud's security operations.
