United Kingdom Lifts Travel Advisories for Gulf

The United Kingdom Foreign Office removed its advisory against travel to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and most of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday following a de-escalation in regional hostilities. The decision follows a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, which established a ceasefire on April 8 to mitigate the risk of direct conflict.

Despite the policy shift, the government maintains that the regional security environment remains unpredictable. Officials warned that attacks against Western-linked infrastructure, including energy facilities, transport hubs, and commercial institutions, could resume on short notice. The advisory notes that the Iranian regime previously identified locations associated with the United States and Israel as potential targets.

The change in status arrives as major carriers continue to navigate the fallout of the conflict. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have suspended regional flight operations until 2026 and 2027, respectively, while state-owned Emirates has maintained its service schedule. Prior to the disruption, the United Arab Emirates served as a primary destination for British travelers, recording over 1.4 million visits from the United Kingdom in the previous year.
