SpaceX Eyes Historic IPO Valuation

SpaceX Aims for $1.77 Trillion Valuation in IPO

SpaceX, the rocket company founded by Elon Musk, is targeting a valuation of nearly $1.77 trillion in its initial public offering (IPO), according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday. The company plans to sell 555.6 million shares at $135 each, aiming to raise approximately $75 billion. This valuation would position SpaceX as the world's seventh-largest company by market capitalization, surpassing Tesla and Meta, and trailing Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC.

The public offering is scheduled for next week, with shares expected to trade on the Nasdaq stock exchange from June 12. This IPO would exceed Saudi Aramco's 2019 debut, which raised $26 billion at a $1.7 trillion valuation. Despite the public listing, Musk will maintain effective control of SpaceX, holding over 82 percent of voting rights due to a dual-class stock structure.

SpaceX's decision to set a specific share price before the investor roadshow is an unusual move, typically companies announce a preliminary price range. The company, known for its rocket launches, internet services via Starlink, and AI models through xAI, reported a net loss of $4.9 billion on revenue of $18.7 billion in 2025, followed by a $4.3 billion loss in the first quarter of this year.

This IPO is one of three major listings anticipated this year, alongside AI startups OpenAI and Anthropic.
