Zelenskyy Meets Burnham at UK Naval Base on Monday

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham is set to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday at a UK naval base, in a visit officials framed as a reaffirmation of bilateral military cooperation.

It will be Zelenskyy’s first trip to the United Kingdom since the new administration took office. Officials said the meeting is intended to underline that London’s strategic support for Kyiv continues despite the recent change in government.

Visit centres on Sea Breeze personnel and ongoing cooperation

During the visit, the two leaders are expected to observe personnel linked to Exercise Sea Breeze, a multinational maritime training deployment that recently concluded in Portland, Dorset. Officials said the activity included more than 200 Ukrainian participants.

The programme is positioned as a visible demonstration of operational cooperation, with the UK using the engagement to highlight work alongside Ukrainian forces in multinational settings.

Stone Cloak jamming project to be reviewed

UK intellectual property and Ukraine-based mass production Officials said the agenda includes a review of the Stone Cloak electronic jamming programme. The initiative is described as a collaborative project in which the UK provided intellectual property designed to enable domestic mass production in Ukraine of drone-protection technology. According to officials, the devices are intended to neutralise Russian air defence tracking systems. They are also slated for integration into future UK cruise missile platforms. Officials said total UK support has reached 25 billion pounds since February 2022, including 16 billion pounds in direct military assistance.

By putting the meeting early on the schedule, the Burnham administration aims to signal to international partners that the UK’s approach remains consistent: providing tactical equipment while also pursuing strategic defence cooperation with Kyiv, officials said.

Some elements of the cooperation discussed, including the pace of Ukrainian domestic production enabled by shared intellectual property and the timing of integration into future UK cruise missile platforms, were not detailed in the briefing.
