Brent Crude Soars as Iran Strikes Bahrain, Kuwait

Brent crude futures surged more than 8% Sunday after Iran launched missile strikes against targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, according to a report from Mint. Tehran reportedly described the attacks as retaliation for recent US military actions and warned of a “complete halt” to ongoing peace negotiations.

The strikes represent a direct and significant escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, pulling key Gulf Cooperation Council states and US allies into a widening conflict. According to the report, Iran also insisted it should have sole oversight of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies through which roughly one-fifth of the world's oil passes.

Market participants will now await an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, which is expected to be called within the next 24-48 hours to address the crisis.
