Corporate Coalition Halts SEC-Backed Stock Tokenization Initiative

A coalition of 59 major corporations, led by Apple, has exercised veto rights to block the launch of a U.S.-based stock tokenization platform. The initiative, a joint venture between a major cryptocurrency exchange and the Intercontinental Exchange, aimed to facilitate round-the-clock on-chain trading of equities via the XLayer blockchain.
The boycott effectively suspends the regulatory experiment intended to integrate traditional financial markets with decentralized finance protocols. Participants in the opposition include six of the "Magnificent Seven" technology firms, alongside major financial institutions and industrial entities.
Reports indicate that the coordinated refusal stems from corporate concerns regarding capital control and pressure from established exchange operators. While domestic tokenization remains stalled, digital analogs of U.S. securities continue to circulate in offshore jurisdictions. This divergence highlights a persistent regulatory gap between domestic market structures and autonomous global blockchain liquidity.
