The 78-year-old performer, widely recognized for his roles in the Jurassic Park franchise and the television series Peaky Blinders, had been in remission from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the time of his death.
The clarification from his representation follows reports regarding the cause of death, which the family described as sudden and unexpected. While Neill had previously undergone CAR-T therapy to treat his blood cancer, his family confirmed he remained cancer-free throughout his final illness. The actor had maintained an active professional schedule, completing four film and television projects over the past year that are slated for release in the coming months.
With a career spanning more than five decades and exceeding 150 screen credits, Neill’s legacy includes significant contributions to international cinema and television. His family intends to hold a private memorial at his farm in New Zealand. Posthumous appearances for the actor are currently scheduled through 2027, including roles in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort.
