W&T Offshore posts Q2 profit, keeps dividend

W&T Offshore reported $12.6 million in second-quarter 2026 net income, reversing a $22.5 million loss three months earlier and maintaining an 11-quarter dividend streak.

The company announced the results on August 5, saying the swing to profit followed earlier weakness in the year. Data showed the firm kept its quarterly payout, marking the eleventh straight distribution to shareholders.

For a small offshore driller that carries debt, the return to profit narrows some near-term pressure on refinancing, but leverage remains a material vulnerability. If earnings hold, creditors and short-term lenders may view the balance sheet as steadier; if profits reverse, financing costs or asset sales would present a clearer risk to equity holders.

Market participants will weigh the result against sector sentiment for offshore exploration and production, where small-cap names can see outsized moves on earnings and liquidity changes. Traders often react to dividend continuity and any guidance for capital spending or debt schedules.

Investors will watch whether W&T sustains profitability through the end of the year; assess whether results hold by December 31, 2026.
