Apple continues to face supply constraints across several Mac models, with estimated shipping times for some desktop configurations—especially Mac Studio—lengthening between early April and early May 2026.
On a recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said demand is being held back by “supply constraints… on several Mac models.” He attributed the limits to reduced supply-chain flexibility and significantly higher RAM costs.
Desktop Macs show the sharpest deterioration
An analysis tracking 423 distinct Mac configurations found that while the MacBook Neo continues to face shortages, desktop Macs saw the largest increase in shipping estimates from April to May.
For the Mac mini, the M4 Pro (12c) configuration with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage shisourcesed from an estimated 29–36 days to ship in April to 70–84 days in May.
For the Mac Studio, an M4 Max model with 36GB of RAM and 512GB of storage moved from 22–29 days in April to 63–70 days in May.
Apple trims configurations amid limited parts
Apple has also reduced the number of configurable options available for purchase, suggesting it is streamlining the lineup to manage constrained component availability—particularly for higher-end specifications.
For the Mac mini, configurations no longer available include all 32GB M4 models, all 64GB M4 Pro models, and the prior baseline 16GB/256GB option.
For the Mac Studio, all M4 Max models with 48GB or 128GB of RAM have been removed, along with the 256GB version of the M3 Ultra Studio.
