Train Carrying Boris Johnson Avoids Drone Strike

Officials said a Russian drone struck an evacuated Kyiv–Warsaw train on Sunday, hitting a carriage just ahead of a special carriage that carried former British prime minister Boris Johnson and a group of European advisers. The train had been cleared before the impact, officials said.

Hit ahead of Johnson carriage

Officials said the strike occurred near the Poland–Ukraine border and struck an empty section of the service. They did not provide casualty figures or damage assessments at the time of the initial report. The carriage described as carrying Johnson and advisers was reported to have been positioned immediately behind the section that was hit.

Officials said investigators and security authorities had been notified and that local rail and border agencies were examining the scene. The incident adds to tensions on the frontier after repeated cross-border strikes in the conflict’s periphery, officials said, and has prompted contact between foreign ministries and security services.

Officials said inquiries were under way and that authorities expected to provide an update within 48 hours.
