Tiger Woods DUI charges follow Florida rollover crash

Florida authorities on April 2, 2026 released body camera footage showing the arrest of golfer Tiger Woods after a rollover crash last week on Jupiter Island. The video, published by CNN affiliate WPBF, shows Woods kneeling near an overturned SUV and later taking a field sobriety test before a deputy places him in handcuffs.

Officials said Woods, 50, is facing two misdemeanor counts: DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. An arrest affidavit released on Tuesday stated that Woods did not pass a field sobriety test and described him as having “bloodshot, glassy eyes” and “extremely dilated pupils.”

According to the affidavit, deputies found two pills in Woods’ pocket that were identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid. Officials said Woods told deputies he had taken “a few” prescription medications earlier that day and referenced having undergone multiple back and leg surgeries.

Authorities said the crash happened on Jupiter Island when Woods’ SUV crossed double solid lines and hit a vehicle towing a trailer, after which Woods’ vehicle flipped. Officials said Woods told deputies he had been distracted by his cell phone and was changing the radio station at the time.

At the Martin County Jail, a breath test recorded 0.000 for alcohol, officials said. Authorities also said Woods refused a urine test, which is cited in the refusal charge.

Woods has pleaded not guilty, and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 5. The case now moves into the court process, where the misdemeanor allegations and the refusal claim will be addressed through filings and hearings.
