A United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry, chaired by former Indian judge Srinivasan Muralidhar, has released a 94-page report documenting the deaths of at least 20,179 Palestinian children in Gaza between October 2023 and October 2025. The investigation, established by the UN Human Rights Council, concludes that Israeli security forces deliberately targeted children through sniper fire, drone strikes, and the systematic destruction of maternity and neonatal medical infrastructure.

Humanitarian and Legal Impact

The report estimates that 44,000 children have been injured and 58,000 orphaned during the two-year conflict. Beyond physical casualties, the commission highlighted the impact of humanitarian aid blockades, which have exacerbated starvation and disease. The findings recommend that UN member states immediately suspend arms transfers to Israel and execute arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court for Israeli officials.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the report as a libellous sham, accusing the commission of ignoring Hamas's use of human shields and the targeting of Israeli children.
