Actress Daveigh Chase Dies at 35

Actress Daveigh Chase, known for her roles in The Ring and Lilo & Stitch, died at age 35 in a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday. Her manager, John Ryan Jr., confirmed the cause of death as sepsis resulting from a bout of meningitis.

Chase, who began her professional acting career at age 7, was admitted to the medical facility suffering from malnourishment prior to her passing. Her career included significant voice work for Disney and recurring roles in television dramas such as HBO's Big Love. She largely withdrew from full-time acting in 2015, shifting her focus toward independent projects and personal interests.

The transition from a prolific child actor to a private life in Nevada and Los Angeles marked the final decade of her career. Her professional legacy includes an Annie Award for her voice performance as Lilo and an MTV Movie Award for her portrayal of Samara Morgan in the 2002 horror film The Ring.
