Texas Executes Inmate for Double Murder

Cedric Ricks was executed by lethal injection on March 10, 2026, at the Huntsville Unit prison in Huntsville, Texas, for the 2013 murders of Roxann Sanchez and her 8-year-old son, Anthony Figueroa. Before his death, Ricks, 51, addressed the victims' family, including Sanchez's surviving son, Marcus Figueroa, expressing remorse for his actions and seeking forgiveness.

Ricks was convicted of capital murder in 2014 for stabbing Sanchez and Anthony Figueroa multiple times with a kitchen knife during an argument at Sanchez's apartment in Bedford, Texas. Marcus Figueroa, then 12, survived the attack despite being stabbed 25 times. Ricks' final appeals for clemency or a temporary reprieve were rejected prior to the execution.

Sanchez died from stab wounds, blunt force trauma, and asphyxia. Ricks fled the scene in Sanchez's car but was apprehended after confessing to family members. He was pronounced dead at 6:55 p.m. CDT.
