Steelers Overhaul Wide Receiver Corps Following 2025 Struggles

The Pittsburgh Steelers have aggressively restructured their wide receiver unit following a 2025 season defined by limited depth and low offensive production. The team, which finished 31st in the league with 136 receptions, prioritized veteran acquisitions and draft selections to support primary receiver DK Metcalf. The strategic shift follows a 2025 campaign where the Steelers' receiving corps struggled to maintain consistency, particularly during Metcalf's two-game suspension late in the season. The unit recorded only 1,716 receiving yards, ranking 29th in the NFL. To address these deficiencies, the organization acquired six-year veteran Michael Pittman Jr. via trade, adding a player who has recorded at least 60 receptions in each of the past five seasons.

Under the direction of head coach Mike McCarthy, the team is implementing a system focused on positional interchangeability.
