Spain and South Africa Launch $28.5 Million Audiovisual Investment Partnership

Spain’s state investment vehicle, SETT, has finalized a $28.5 million audiovisual joint venture with South Africa’s Known Associates Group. The initiative involves the establishment of a production company in Madrid and the development of post-production facilities in the Canary Islands and the Basque Country.

SETT, operating under the Ministry for Digital Transformation, is contributing $14.5 million to the project. This capital injection represents a significant public-private commitment aimed at expanding regional infrastructure for media production.

The partnership seeks to integrate Spanish and South African production capabilities through shared technical resources. This move aligns with broader state efforts to incentivize digital transformation and attract international investment into the domestic audiovisual sector.

Governance of these ventures will be split between public and private stakeholders. The project’s success depends on the operational integration of the new facilities and the ability to leverage cross-border production incentives.
