Quiz Books Boost UK Publishing Sales

UK quiz book sales reached their highest level since 1998 in 2025, with spending increasing by nearly 25%, according to NielsenIQ BookData. This surge occurred despite a 5% decline in overall non-fiction spending, which fell to £791 million, its lowest point since 2014. Total print book sales in the UK were valued at £1.81 billion, with 59 million units sold, representing a 6% year-on-year decrease.

The growth in quiz book sales was significantly driven by spin-offs from popular television shows like ITV's "The 1% Club." Additionally, Bible sales saw a 19% increase, reaching £6.3 million in the UK. The average book price rose by 2% to £9.52, attributed to inflation and production costs. While adult fiction spending increased, print fiction unit sales slightly decreased by 0.5%. Audiobook sales, comic strips, and graphic novels also experienced growth during this period.
