Fatal Shooting Rocks NJ Chick-fil-A

Union Township, New Jersey — One person was killed and at least five others were injured in a shooting at a Chick-fil-A in Union Township on Saturday night, according to officials and published reports. The incident unfolded at about 8:40 PM inside or near the restaurant in the 2300 block of Route 22.

Emergency responders took five injured people to hospitals, while one victim was declared dead at the scene, authorities said. Local reports said the restaurant was busy at the time and that many customers ran for cover as the situation developed.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill said on social media that she had been briefed on the shooting and was in contact with local law enforcement. Officials have not provided additional public details about the victims or the circumstances surrounding the gunfire.
