Triet Taps Stars for English Debut 'Fonda

Justine Triet , the Oscar and Palme d'Or-winning filmmaker behind "Anatomy of a Fall" , has added new names to the ensemble of her first English-language feature, "Fonda" . Odessa A'zion, Ewan Mitchell, Cherry Jones, and Benedict Wong have joined the project, according to the latest production update.

The film is set to begin principal photography from April to June 2026 . The new additions follow previously announced cast members Mia Goth , Allison Janney , Andrew Scott , Frank Dillane , and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett , expanding a lineup that spans established award-winning performers and internationally recognized screen talent.

"Fonda" is described as a psychological thriller centered on grief and obsession . The story is set within a location presented as calm and ideal on the surface, while also being confined , a combination that signals a tightly controlled setting for the film’s central tensions.

On the production side, the project brings Triet back together with key partners from "Anatomy of a Fall." Producers Marie-Ange Luciani of Les Films de Pierre and David Thion of Les Films Pelléas are attached, alongside sales agent MK2 Films . The film also has co-production support from Les Films du Fleuve , with U.K. backing from House Productions and BBC Film .

MK2 Films is handling international sales and is also involved in co-financing and co-producing the film with Studiocanal . Studiocanal is set to manage theatrical distribution in its territories, including France , Germany , Italy , Benelux , Poland , Australia , and New Zealand . IPR.VC is listed among the film’s financiers.
