Nvidia Exceeds Q1 Revenue Forecasts
Nvidia Corporation, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of $81.62 billion, surpassing analyst expectations of $78.86 billion. This performance, announced on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in the United States, was primarily driven by a significant increase in its datacenter business, indicating sustained growth in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure development.
The company's datacenter segment recorded a 92% year-over-year growth, reaching $75.2 billion. This surge reflects the ongoing global expansion of AI data centers, with U.S. tech giants collectively projected to invest approximately $750 billion in AI infrastructure this year. Nvidia's earnings per share also exceeded forecasts, reaching $1.87 compared to the anticipated $1.76 per share.
Despite strong overall results, Nvidia's outlook for datacenter compute revenue from China remains uncertain due to market access challenges. Concurrently, the company is expanding its international presence, with Singapore announcing a new Nvidia research hub focused on AI infrastructure efficiency. Nvidia also plans to introduce a new AI system, the Vera Rubin platform, in the second half of 2026, which is anticipated to further enhance AI infrastructure capabilities.
