Christopher Nolan's epic film, "The Odyssey," has commanded the top spot at the Korean box office for an unprecedented 40 consecutive days. The movie drew an additional 449,000 viewers over the recent weekend, pushing its total admissions past the 10 million mark.

Nolan's Film Leads Weekend Sales

Premiering on August 5, the film captured 51.5 percent of all ticket sales between Friday and Sunday. This performance secured its sixth consecutive week atop the weekend box office charts. Its cumulative audience now stands at 10.78 million, making it the seventh most-watched foreign film in South Korean cinematic history.

Epic Narrative and Star Cast

Based on Homer's ancient Greek poem, "The Odyssey" chronicles King Odysseus's arduous journey home to Ithaca following the Trojan War. The production features a prominent ensemble cast, including Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, and Zendaya.

Competitors Trail in Admissions

The Hollywood horror feature "Obsession" secured second place, drawing 176,000 admissions over the three-day period. This translated to an 18.6 percent market share. Its total admissions have reached 474,000, with distributors anticipating it will surpass the 500,000 threshold this week.

Spider-Man Slips to Third

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" dropped to third position, recording 84,000 viewers over the weekend. The superhero film's total audience count now stands at 8.93 million. Rounding out the top five were "The Drama," starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, with 29,000 admissions, and the Korean production "Road to Gyeong-ju," which garnered 17,000 viewers.
