Kidman Advocates Female-Led Film Production

Nicole Kidman, co-producer and star of the upcoming film *Practical Magic 2*, expressed her commitment to fostering female leadership in the film industry, specifically advocating for a female director for the sequel. The film, co-starring Sandra Bullock, is scheduled for release on September 11, 2026, nearly three decades after the original. Academy Award winner Susanne Bier is directing the project, with Akiva Goldsman and Georgie Pritchett as screenwriters, based on Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel *The Book of Magic*.

Kidman, who also serves as a producer alongside Bullock and Denise Di Novi, emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for women in directorial and writing roles. She highlighted her strong working relationship and "incredible chemistry" with Bullock, describing it as sisterly. The cast will include returning stars Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, alongside new additions Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod.

The production aims to leverage the established fan base of the original film while attracting new audiences with its updated cast and a focus on female creative leadership.
