Zuckerberg Not Bidding for Seahawks

Zuckerberg Not Bidding for Seahawks Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, is not pursuing an acquisition of the Seattle Seahawks National Football League (NFL) franchise, a Meta spokesperson confirmed on Thursday. This statement refutes an earlier report by Front Office Sports suggesting Zuckerberg was exploring a bid for the team. The report had also indicated interest from former Apple CEO Tim Cook, which a source close to Apple subsequently denied as "completely false."

The Seattle Seahawks are currently owned by the Paul G. Allen Trust, following the death of founder Paul Allen in 2018. While the team is not officially for sale, speculation regarding potential ownership changes has periodically emerged. Zuckerberg possesses the financial capacity to acquire the franchise outright, without debt or limited partners.

The initial Front Office Sports report mentioned four individuals exploring bids for the Seahawks, though only Zuckerberg and Cook were identified. The identities of the other two potential bidders were not disclosed. This clarification from Meta and Apple effectively removes two high-profile individuals from consideration for any potential future ownership changes of the NFL team.
