Maharashtra seeks approval to buy 2.3GW solar

MSKVY 2.0 aims to solarize feeders

The filing describes MSKVY 2.0 as a program to solarize agricultural feeders through decentralized projects that feed daytime power to pumps and other farm loads, reducing dependence on subsidized night-time supply, officials said. The petition seeks clarity on a purchase tariff that would underpin power purchase agreements with developers and enable long-term financing.

MSEDCL said the 2.3GW procurement would be allocated across multiple feeders and proponents; the filing outlines capacity bands and eligibility criteria but does not publish a project-by-project schedule, officials said. The request frames the measure as supporting daytime load management and accelerating renewable uptake in the state's distribution network.

If the regulator issues a decision by December 15, 2026, then procurement contracts could be awarded soon after and commissioning could begin in early 2027 under the scheme; if the commission delays past that date, award timetables would shift and developers would face longer lead times. Officials did not provide a regulator timeline in the petition.
