Kennedy Center launches 'Digital Stage' to expand online performances and learning

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has launched "Digital Stage," an online portal that assembles streaming performances, educational resources and new digital commissions from the Center’s Washington, D.C. campus. The platform collects both live and on-demand material aimed at audiences who cannot attend in person.

According to the Kennedy Center, Digital Stage brings together recent productions, archived performances and specially produced digital works across music, theater, dance and family programming. The site is presented as a complement to the Center’s on-site season, with programming designed for broad accessibility and remote engagement.

The Center says the portal also features educational content for students and teachers, extending its arts-in-education mission beyond classroom visits and on-site workshops. Programming is organized to make it easier for viewers to find curated series, thematic collections and resources tied to school curricula.

Kennedy Center leaders framed the initiative as part of a longer-term digital strategy to reach new audiences, support artists, and provide flexible access to its artistic catalog. The online hub is positioned to serve both Washington residents who want to engage with the Center remotely and national or international viewers who cannot travel to D.C.
