Kalshi launches gold and silver perpetual futures

Kalshi launched two perpetual futures contracts for gold and silver after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved the listings this week, officials said. The contracts are the first non-crypto perpetual futures to be cleared in the U.S., officials added. Market reaction was muted in early trade; reaction is pending.

CFTC approval this week

Officials said the regulator’s sign-off clears a legal path for perpetual contracts — instruments with no set expiry that use periodic funding payments to keep futures prices aligned with spot. The company announced the listings will be cleared through a registered derivatives clearing organization, officials said, which means margining and default management will follow established cleared-derivatives procedures.

Market participants say perpetuals have been concentrated in crypto markets where they offer continuous exposure without rollover. Introducing cleared perps for gold and silver could change how short-term price signals form in metals trading by shifting some liquidity and hedging flows onto a continuously traded, margin-cleared venue, traders and analysts told the exchange, officials said.

Traders will watch initial liquidity, funding rates and clearinghouse margins through Sept. 17, 2026, to judge whether the contracts attract sustained flows and meaningfully alter price discovery in the precious-metals complex.
