Artists Record Shane MacGowan Tribute Album

A tribute album honoring the late Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan, titled "20th Century Paddy - The Songs of Shane MacGowan," has been announced for release in November, featuring contributions from prominent musicians including Bruce Springsteen, Hozier, and Jessie Buckley. The album's first single, Springsteen's cover of "A Rainy Night In Soho," was released on Thursday. MacGowan, who died in November 2023 at age 65, is being celebrated through this collection, which also includes tracks by Tom Waits, Primal Scream, Steve Earle, and David Gray. Actor Johnny Depp and singer Imelda May have recorded a duet, with additional artists such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Libertines, and Kate Moss also participating. Fifty percent of the artist royalties generated by the album will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community, a charity supporting the homeless population in Dublin.
