Grammarly Disables AI Expert Review Feature
Grammarly disables AI "Expert Review" after criticism over unauthorized writer identity use. Redesigning with expert consent.

Grammarly, a product of Superhuman, has disabled its "Expert Review" artificial intelligence feature following user feedback regarding unauthorized representation. The feature, launched in August, utilized third-party large language models to generate writing suggestions "inspired by" real writers, including editors from The Verge, without their explicit consent.
Ailian Gan, Superhuman's director of product management, stated on March 11, 2026, that the company will "reimagine" the feature to provide experts with control over their representation. Previously, Superhuman had offered an opt-out email for writers, but acknowledged this was insufficient. Superhuman CEO Shishir Mehrotra apologized, indicating a future where experts can choose to participate and define how their knowledge is used and monetized within the platform.
