AI Boom Fuels Foxconn's Q1 Profit Surge

Foxconn Reports Strong Q1 Profit on AI Demand

Taiwan's Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, reported a 19% increase in first-quarter profit on Thursday, May 14, exceeding analyst expectations. The company, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, attributed this performance to robust global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) products.

Net profit for the January-March period reached T$49.92 billion ($1.58 billion), surpassing the LSEG consensus estimate of T$48.88 billion. Foxconn, a key supplier for Nvidia and Apple, maintained its forecast for strong revenue growth throughout the current year, driven primarily by the AI sector. The company anticipates a 30% increase in capital expenditures this year, up from T$174 billion last year, to expand its AI server manufacturing capacity.

Foxconn expects AI server rack shipments to more than double in 2026. Demand for graphics processing unit (GPU) servers and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) servers remains strong, with general-purpose servers also projected to grow due to AI data center deployments. The company noted a shift in some cloud and networking products, particularly ASIC servers, to a consignment model where customers provide key components.
