Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode logged a sharp pickup in engagement after Chapter 7 Season 3 launched in early June, with public player data showing the average concurrent player count nearly doubling month over month.
Fortnite June concurrency climbs past 433,000
Data showed the increase was comparable to a previous seasonal spike last November, when the average concurrent count rose from 225,000 to 480,000 during a themed season. The latest bump arrived without a major external collaboration, suggesting the Season 3 gameplay loop itself is driving the change.
Data showed peaks also rose during limited-time “Power Hours” tied to rare sprite variants; June 27’s “gummy hour” saw nearly 1.6 million players in Battle Royale at once.
The durability of the surge remains uncertain. Data showed prior spikes faded after seasonal transitions, and the next shift is scheduled for late August when Season 4 launches. The next 6–8 weeks will test whether Epic can convert the June bump into sustained engagement ahead of the late August Season 4 start.
Data showed average concurrent Battle Royale players rising from 228,000 in May to over 433,000 in June based on publicly available figures collected and aggregated by fortnite.gg.
