The decision marks the end of a series that garnered significant viewership for Netflix, with its fifth season accumulating 26.8 million global views within 11 days of release. Creator Darren Star and lead actress Lily Collins confirmed the show's conclusion, with Collins stating the sixth season will serve as the "final chapter in Emily's adventure of a lifetime." The cast, including Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Samuel Arnold, and Bruno Gouery, will return for the final installment.

The show has been recognized for its cultural impact, inspiring fashion trends and memes, and was praised by French President Emmanuel Macron for highlighting France.
