China adds 155mm howitzers facing Taiwan Strait

China has equipped a People’s Liberation Army brigade facing the Taiwan Strait with 155mm PLZ-05 self-propelled howitzers, replacing older 122mm artillery, state media reported Sunday. Reaction pending.

The deployment was reported at brigade level under the 71st Group Army, with the batch of weapons delivered over the past two months. State media said the unit has conducted its first live-fire test with the 155mm systems.
