Australian National Charged With Thai Murder

Thai authorities arrested Australian national Simon Peter Carman at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday following the discovery of a 17-year-old girl's body in a suitcase near a Pattaya railway track. The suspect was apprehended at 01:15 local time while allegedly attempting to depart the country, approximately 150 kilometers from the crime scene.

Pattaya City Police initiated the investigation after the victim, identified as Tunchanok Donhomla, was reported missing at 17:00 on Friday. Investigators utilized CCTV footage that reportedly shows Carman entering a condominium with the victim before exiting alone with a large suitcase, which he subsequently transported via motorbike to the location where the body was recovered.

Carman faces charges of murder, concealing a corpse, and the abduction of a minor for sexual purposes. The suspect has denied the murder charge, citing self-defense, while remaining in police custody. The legal proceedings are expected to continue under Thai jurisdiction as authorities process forensic evidence collected from the site and the suspect's transit route.
