Apple Expands F1 Involvement Globally

Apple Senior Vice-President of Services Eddy Cue announced on Friday in Miami that the company anticipates a sequel to the Brad Pitt-led F1 movie and plans to expand its Formula One involvement globally. This follows Apple TV's acquisition of exclusive U.S.

broadcast rights for Formula One, taking over from Walt Disney's ESPN for all 24 rounds of the current season. The initial F1 film, an Apple Original Films production, reportedly cost $200 million to produce and generated $634 million, according to IMDb data.

Cue expressed satisfaction with the reception of Apple's U.S. F1 coverage and indicated the company's intent to significantly contribute to the sport's growth. While Formula One licensing is not globally unified, Apple aims to extend its reach into additional international markets, building upon its current success in the U.S. market.

The appointment of John Ternus as the new Apple CEO, succeeding Tim Cook, is expected to further strengthen the company's relationship with Formula One. Ternus, an amateur racer and F1 enthusiast, is anticipated to provide continued strong support for Apple's motorsports initiatives.
