Anthropic Meets White House Over AI Tool

Anthropic executives are scheduled to meet with senior White House officials on Monday in Washington D.C. to address national security concerns regarding the company's recently suspended AI tool, Fable 5/Mythos 5. This meeting follows Anthropic's decision on Friday to block public access to the tool after the U.S. government prohibited foreign national access.

The suspension of Fable 5/Mythos 5, a new version of Anthropic's Claude Mythos model, occurred days after its public release. The U.S. government cited awareness of a potential "jailbreak" vulnerability, which could allow unintended use of the AI. Anthropic stated it had received only "verbal evidence" of this vulnerability.

The upcoming discussion with the U.S. Department of Commerce, expected to include Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Secretary Howard Lutnick, aims to provide further documentation on the alleged issue. The outcome of this meeting will determine if Anthropic can reinstate access to its AI tool.
