Ukraine’s military and regional officials said Russian drone strikes and front-line clashes continued over the past 24 hours, despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire scheduled to run from May 9 to May 11. The reports were issued on Monday, May 11, 2026, as Washington pressed both sides to de-escalate more than four years into the war that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
Officials in several regions reported deaths and injuries tied to the latest attacks. Russia’s Defence Ministry, meanwhile, accused Ukraine of violating the truce.
Ukraine and Russia agreed on Friday to the May 9–May 11 ceasefire as part of a U.S.-led push for peace under President Donald Trump. Trump said on Friday he hoped the ceasefire would be extended.
By Sunday, the pause was already under strain, with both sides accusing the other of breaches. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Moscow had refrained from large-scale aerial and missile attacks, but that Russian forces had continued assaults along parts of the long front where they are advancing.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said on Sunday it had downed 57 Ukrainian drones over the past day and “responded in kind” on the battlefield. It did not immediately report on the battlefield situation on Monday.
Casualties reported across several Ukrainian regions
Regional officials in Ukraine reported deaths and injuries across multiple areas. In the southeastern region of Zaporizhzhia, one person was killed and two people were wounded, the regional governor said.
In the southern region of Kherson, two people were killed and two were wounded, according to the region’s governor. In the neighboring Mykolaiv region, three people were wounded, officials said.
Officials also reported five people hurt in the northern region of Kharkiv and four wounded in the eastern region of Donetsk.
Military reports clashes and extensive drone use
Ukraine’s General Staff said 180 battlefield clashes were recorded along the front line over the past 24 hours. It also reported that Russian forces on Sunday deployed 8,037 “kamikaze” drones in attacks on settlements and military positions.
The ceasefire was intended to ease fighting, but the latest reports underscored the difficulty of enforcing a pause along a long and active front line.
Attention is likely to focus on whether the ceasefire holds through May 11 and whether any extension is agreed, as both sides continue to trade accusations of violations.
