Drone Attacks Kill 13 in Ukraine

Russian drone and bomb attacks killed 13 people and injured at least 41 across Ukraine between Tuesday and Wednesday, following the expiration of a three-day U.S.-brokered ceasefire. The attacks primarily targeted civilian infrastructure in multiple regions, with the central Dnipropetrovsk region reporting eight fatalities and 11 injuries on Tuesday alone. Subsequent attacks on Wednesday resulted in three deaths in the western Rivne region and one in Zaporizhzhia.

Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched 139 drones within a 24-hour period, with 111 intercepted but 20 direct hits recorded across 13 locations. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 14 Ukrainian regions were attacked, accusing Russia of deliberately targeting railway infrastructure and other civilian facilities. Ukraine's military intelligence warned that these drone strikes could be a precursor to larger missile attacks, designed to overwhelm air defense systems.

Concurrently, Russian officials reported that Ukrainian drones struck three industrial facilities overnight, with no casualties. The Russian defense ministry claimed 286 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over 14 Russian regions and Crimea since Tuesday evening. These reciprocal strikes indicate an escalation in hostilities immediately following the cessation of the ceasefire, impacting both civilian and industrial targets.
