Swiss Bus Fire Kills Six, Ruled Non-Terrorist

A bus fire in Kerzers, Switzerland, on Tuesday evening resulted in six fatalities and five injuries, with authorities suspecting a deliberate act. Police in Fribourg canton have initiated a criminal investigation, focusing on reports that an individual on board doused themselves in fuel and ignited it. While an intentional act is the primary theory, investigators have, for now, ruled out a terrorist motive.

The incident occurred in Kerzers, a town approximately 20 kilometers west of Berne. The vehicle, a PostBus service transporting passengers and mail, rapidly became engulfed in flames. Two of the injured remain in serious condition, while one has been discharged. Identification of the deceased is expected to take several days.

Witness accounts suggest the fire spread quickly, with some reporting a man pouring petrol and setting himself ablaze. The bus was a combustion engine model, not electric. Swiss President Guy Parmelin expressed condolences to the victims' families.
