Six-Year-Old Girl Dies Following Coastal Emergency in Sussex

A six-year-old Palestinian-British girl, Saja el-Khawas, has died in a hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities from a coastal incident off the Sussex coast to four. Saja had been in critical condition since being rescued from the water on Tuesday. Police confirmed her death on Friday, following an event that also claimed the lives of her parents and 14-year-old sister.

The family, who resided in London and originally hailed from the Rashidieh refugee camp in Lebanon, was visiting a beach near Shoreham earlier this week when the tragic incident unfolded. Authorities identified the other victims as 55-year-old Hassan El-Khawas, 37-year-old Zeina Alayn, and their 14-year-old daughter, Sara El-Khawas. The three family members were pronounced deceased at the scene.
