Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke has spoken out regarding an eviction lawsuit filed against him by his landlord, Eric Goldie. Rourke, 71, claims he intentionally withheld $59,100 in rent due to a severe rodent infestation and persistent plumbing issues at his residence.
The lawsuit, initiated by Goldie, resulted in a default eviction judgment against Rourke on March 12, 2026. The court's decision mandates Rourke's immediate vacating of the property and termination of his lease agreement. This ruling followed Rourke's failure to respond to a 'pay or quit' notice issued on December 18.
Speaking to E! News, Rourke explained that his decision to stop paying rent was not arbitrary. He stated that despite months of attempts to resolve the issues, the rodent problem remained unaddressed, and the bathroom and plumbing systems were consistently malfunctioning. Under these conditions, Rourke asserted, he could not continue making payments.
In a separate development, Rourke strongly condemned a GoFundMe campaign launched by fans to raise over $100,000 to assist him with his housing situation. The actor disavowed any connection to the campaign, calling it "embarrassing." He urged donors to reclaim their money and pledged to work towards returning the collected funds.
