Israeli Drone Strikes Continue in Lebanon

Israeli drone strikes targeted multiple locations in southern Lebanon on Friday, injuring two individuals despite a United States-brokered framework agreement intended to facilitate a phased military withdrawal. The strikes hit a vehicle near the towns of Choukine and Kfar Dajjal, followed by additional operations in Kfar Reman and Nabatieh al-Fawqa, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

The ongoing military activity persists even as the June 26 agreement seeks to establish a path toward de-escalation. While the framework aims to stabilize the border region, it does not mandate an immediate Israeli withdrawal from occupied areas, and Israeli officials have indicated that operations deemed necessary for security will continue. The lack of a comprehensive ceasefire mechanism has left the diplomatic framework vulnerable to tactical military actions.

The escalation coincides with renewed calls for accountability regarding previous operations. Amnesty International recently urged investigations into March strikes that resulted in 24 civilian deaths, citing potential violations of international humanitarian law. Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health reports that the total death toll from the conflict has reached 4,321 since March 2, with over 12,000 injuries recorded as the cycle of violence continues to challenge international mediation efforts.
