No participants in the placebo group achieved this endpoint.

The therapy functions as an antisense oligonucleotide, targeting messenger RNA to reduce viral protein production and facilitate immune system recovery. Data suggest that patient selection is a critical variable, as individuals with lower baseline HBsAg levels experienced success rates reaching 26%.

These results offer a potential alternative to current standard-of-care treatments, which typically require indefinite antiviral therapy to suppress viral replication.
