Rockstar Games has confirmed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, following the commencement of global pre-orders on June 25. The title, which represents the latest installment in one of the industry's most profitable franchises, will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles. Development costs for the project are estimated to exceed $1 billion, potentially establishing it as the most expensive video game production in history. The title features a dual-protagonist narrative set in the fictional state of Leonida, marking the first time a female character is playable in the series' 3D era. Standard editions are priced at $79.99, with an ultimate edition retailing for $99.99.
The release follows two previous delays from autumn 2025 and May 2026, which the developer attributed to the necessity of meeting quality standards. Physical copies will not include a disc, instead providing a digital download code. While Rockstar has not confirmed a PC release date or the immediate availability of an online mode, the franchise's historical performance suggests significant market impact. The project has faced a prolonged development cycle, compounded by security breaches and internal labor disputes at the company's Edinburgh headquarters.
