Bahia Metals reports 313Mt inferred nickel resource

Bahia Metals said on Aug. 10, 2026 it has finished an initial mineral resource estimate for Mangueiros Main, reporting 313 million tonnes of material classified as inferred at a grade of 0.33% nickel total equivalent (NiTEq). The company said the estimate relates to its Mangueiros Main nickel-copper-cobalt project in Bahia, Brazil.

The company added that market reaction was still pending at the time of its statement. It framed the update as an early-stage resource disclosure, with more information to follow in a separate filing.

Mangueiros Main estimate: tonnage, grade, and classification

Bahia Metals said the entire mineral resource estimate (MRE) falls under the “Inferred” category, which it described as the lowest level of geological confidence. The company also noted that an inferred resource is not a mineral reserve and, on its own, does not demonstrate economic viability. The reported grade of 0.33% NiTEq was presented as a total-equivalent metric. Bahia Metals said this approach combines nickel, copper, and cobalt into a single grade figure to reflect the combined value of multiple metals in one number. While the company highlighted the scale of the tonnage, it tied the classification to the need for further work before the estimate can be used for detailed mine planning. Bahia Metals said additional drilling, metallurgical testing, and economic studies would be required before the project could have implications for future mine supply.

Technical disclosures still to come under Canadian rules

In its summary statement In its summary statement, Bahia Metals did not provide an element-by-element breakdown of contained metal for nickel, copper, and cobalt. It said more technical detail would be provided in a forthcoming report. The company said it plans to file a supporting technical report under Canadian securities rules within 45 days, setting a deadline of Sept. 24, 2026. Beyond the timing of that filing, it did not provide further specifics in the summary. How the company described early-stage market attention Bahia Metals pointed to how market participants commonly treat early-stage resource updates. It said commodity traders generally wait for technical reports and major feasibility milestones before adjusting supply expectations for nickel.

In the company’s framing, attention may focus on details not included in the initial summary, including element-specific grades and the assumptions that support the total-equivalent figure. It also said market participants will look for recovery assumptions and any proposed drilling timelines that could support movement into higher-confidence resource categories.

Until the technical report is filed and additional work is disclosed, the company characterized the update as an early-stage statement based on an inferred MRE, with the next formal milestone set for Sept. 24, 2026.
