AG Schwalb Secures $3 Million in Wage Theft Settlement for DC Workers

Attorney General Brian Schwalb announced Tuesday that his office has secured $3 million in restitution for workers and the District in a significant wage theft enforcement action against Dynalectric Co. The funds will be distributed to over 200 workers who were denied wages.

The enforcement action, initiated by the Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) Fair Shot Fund, specifically addressed Dynalectric Co.'s failure to compensate apprentices for required pre-apprenticeship training hours. This practice violates DC labor laws designed to protect workers.

Dynalectric Co., identified as a subsidiary of DynaCom, operates as a federal contractor and maintains a notable presence within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The $3 million settlement will be disbursed through a combination of direct restitution to the wronged apprentices and contributions to the District, acknowledging the governmental role in rectifying these labor violations.
